Wow what a great July 1st for Regina’s Canada Day Celebrations which includes the top crowd drawing event of the day. The Canadian Progress Club Plywood Cup.
Building a sea (lake) worthy craft with just a sheet of plywood, nail , hammer, saw and duck tape can be a challenge all to itself, the building of the boats is a huge draw for the Canada Day celebrations, but the highlight of the day is the race itself. Just watching the launching of one of these boats is a sight to behold.
Some racers are done after just a couple of strokes of the oars, after a dip in the mighty Wascana Lake, they emerge with the vow do win next year.
