Canada Day 2017 — Ladies Durham Region
Happy 150 Canada!
To celebrate our very special birthday, the Ladies Durham Region provided food and beverage at the City of Pickering’s Canada Day celebration at Esplanade Park. Across Canada, threatening storms seem to be in everyone’s forecast but thousands turned out for a full day of fun in the sun. Local music, artists and a variety of vendors enjoyed the interaction and engagement of the large crowds. Earlier in the day, A special Veterans event was also held to honour our heroic elders.
Hundreds of Canada Day bandanas were everywhere, having them sewn up onsite and given away to young and old, to furry kids and fluffy dolls, everyone wanted a memento to wear.
The evening festivities continued at Kinsmen Park, with several entertainers and the ladies Durham Region club continued to serve beverages, popcorn and light ropes to the throng of happy celebrators. A perfect end to the event was full of awe’s and sighs from the crowds enjoying a massive celebratory fireworks display sponsored by our own city of Pickering.
Artfest 2017 – Ladies Durham Region
The City of Pickering held its’ annual Artfest at Esplanade Park on May 27 with a gray overcast that discreetly kept us sufficiently warm and surprisingly sunburned! Every summer, Pickering hosts this wonderful event for over 90 artists from across the province to share their remarkable talent. In addition, several How-To-In-10 sessions provided new experiences for everyone to learn how to do something in 10 minutes; from wine tasting to tai chi to pickle ball, there was much for everyone to learn and enjoy throughout the day.
Our Ladies Durham Region team worked diligently serving up hot food and beverages for the local artists and event goers throughout the day. Another great success for the Ladies hardworking efforts!
Special mention to our local Your Independent Grocer who kindly donated individual salads to include on our menu.
