Festivities and Support in Durham Region

From Durham Region Women at Pickering, Ontario on 10/01/2021

In usual fashion, another annual event successfully redesigned for the community to enjoy was the Santa Claus Parade / Drive-through held in Pickering Ontario. The Durham Region Women hit the mark of the ‘movie night’ theme with How the Grinch Stole Christmas, complete with the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who from Whoville.  A fun evening of cheer that every age enjoyed as the participants drove past each colourful display entered by a variety of community organizations. Congratulations is also in order to the Durham Region Women for winning 1st place for their beautiful and eccentric stand-alone float – well done!

Next up was our annual Christmas Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre and we brought along the Grinch and Cindy too! Each year the Durham Region Women have co-hosted this wonderful event for the children and their families impacted by cancer and the drive-through plan was a great success once again. Stations were setup along the route to receive gifts, goodies and even a gingerbread house for the families to build at home. The final stop was the children’s’ time to share their wishes and excitement with Mr. & Mrs. Claus where each child was given a special gift.  This event is always a very heartwarming one for all of us.
