Brampton Santa Claus Parade

From Brampton at Brampton on 03/04/2017

The Canadian Progress Club Brampton participated in the Brampton Santa Claus Parade for the twenty-fifth year,
collecting food for the local food banks. On average we collect 3,000-4,000 pounds of food and we collect money from those spectators who wish to contribute. The cash is used to purchase essentials required by the food banks. Not only are the shelves stocked with food through the donations but the Christmas hampers are completed for the families in need at this time of year.
Over the years we have contributed over 75,000 pounds of food and have spent an additional $50,000-$75,000 to supplement the non-perishables collected.
This activity is only possible through the hours of work by our members, family, friends and volunteers year after year. We need 30-40 participants in the parade to collect food and money. Another 100 hours of work is required to prepare the float each year. The result is a very satisfying and rewarding contribution to our community.
