Regina Wascana:  Marathons and 5K Walks

September was a very busy month for Regina Wascana – September 9, 2007, we sent 9 club members and 5 guest volunteers out on the course of the SaskCentral Queen City Marathon. It was a beautiful day directing traffic and keeping the runners safe (and dodging irate drivers!) This year proceeds from the event were shared between Raise-a-Reader and The Dirty Dozen (an inner city project helping kids “Run away from crime”. Our own Karen Graham, Kimberly Sentes and Denise Carr participated in the Marathon…Way to go girls!

While half our club was participating in Convention in Niagara Falls, 3 of our club members and 4 guests took part in the annual CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday September 30th. The girls enjoyed a beautiful morning of fellowship while completing a 5K walk. Money raised from this event goes toward Breast Cancer Research and we were very happy to once again take part in this event.
