Canadian Progress Charitable Foundation

Greetings from the Foundation!

It seems like just yesterday that we were all gathered in St. John’s at convention. What a great time it was! Thank you to the St. John’s members and their volunteers for not only putting on a fabulous convention, but for creating, organizing and implementing the Run For Fun in support of CPCF. The Club reports that approximately $12,000 was raised in this inaugural event by the pledges obtained from the participating Progress members. Fantastic!! We look forward to working with the Brampton Club to continue this great event.

As with every year, the Foundation Board must say goodbye to Governors whose terms have expired. This year, four Governors who have contributed a combined 30+ years of service on the Foundation have more than fulfilled their commitment. We gratefully thank Janey Davies, John Nunn, Margaret French and Bruce Mansour for their years of dedication and tireless efforts. They will be missed by all on the Foundation.

The incoming CPCF Board has many faces new to the Foundation, but very familiar to Progress. We welcome incoming Governors CJ MacMullin and Dave Edgecombe from the Eastern Region; Larry Fenske and Mal Simms from Central Region; Dean Muma from Great Plains Region; and Ron Lloyd and Chris Moffatt from Western Region.

Among the many objectives for the Foundation in the upcoming year are: formalizing the administrative process of the Foundation’s first fund; working with Special Olympics Canada in the development of the second major fundraising project; and increased utilization of the National website for the distribution of CPCF information.

The individual members of each Canadian Progress Club and their Clubs directly contribute a substantial amount of money to the Foundation and generate additional contribution through their fundraising activities. The Governors, which each Region has elected, are your representatives in regards to Foundation operations. Please take the opportunity to provide them with your feedback – tell us what things we are doing well and what things we can improve upon. All the Governors are listed on the National website and we look to your feedback to us.

Also, look forward to the activation of the CPCF link on the National website in the near future.  We will endeavour to provide both general information and timely updates on the Foundation.

Yours for Progress,
Brian Spilchen
