National Awards 2006


The 2006 National Awards were presented by Past National President Juanita Soutar at the Awards Luncheon and President’s Ball in St. John’s.

We would like to thank Marci Brisbourne, past Director of Member Services and her committee for their extraordinary work on the Awards process for the past two years. Also, thank you to all of the Club Awards Chairs for your efforts in compiling and completing the awards submissions, and to the judges for your time to evaluate the submissions.

Outstanding President’s Award
This Award is granted to Club Presidents who have demonstrated outstanding performance in the listed criteria.  Recipients:

Outstanding Zone Governor

Mentor Award
This award is granted to all individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contributions of guidance, wisdom and direction to new members and/or officers, directors in any club, regional or national position.  Recipients:

Eastern Region

Mercury Award
This award is for Progressians in their first year of Progress and can only be earned by completing the requirements outlined on the Mercury Award Scorecard within 12 months from the date of the member’s induction.  Recipients:

  • Sheila Miller – Regina Wascana

Diamond Mercury Award
The Diamond Mercury Award can be earned by any person who has been a member in good standing of the Canadian Progress Club for at least one year, and has successfully completing the required elements.  Recipients:

  • Ailene Lockhart – Calgary Eves

Pride in Progress Award
This award is given to each Progressian who sponsors three or more new members during the Club year.  Recipients:

Fellowship Award
This is awarded to the Club judged to have the most substantial participation and involvement in social and interclub activities, as well as the mentoring, training and developing of the membership.  Recipient:

Publicity Award
This is awarded to the Club that is judged to have the most substantial participation and involvement in publicity and public relations activities that contributed to the promotion of the Canadian Progress Club.  Recipient:

  • Regina Wascana

Communication Award
This award is granted to the Club who demonstrates the highest level of communication within the Club, as well as with Regional and National Officers.  Recipient:

  • Brampton

Ways and Means Award
This Club recognition acknowledges the generous and valuable contribution of our members towards raising funds for those within our communities who are in need. The award is bestowed on the Club judged to have achieved the highest overall standing. Recipient:

  • Calgary Bow River

Attendance Award
This award is presented to the Club with the highest attendance percentage at Club, Zone, Regional, and National meetings and events.  Recipient:

  • St. John’s

Outstanding Club Award
This award is granted to all Clubs that have demonstrated outstanding performance in the required components, and have maintained by-law strength or increased membership by at least 10% net.  Recipients:

  • Greater Moncton Area

  • Halifax

  • Halifax Cornwallis

  • St. John’s

  • Brampton

  • Durham Region Women

  • Regina Wascana

  • Calgary Bow River

  • Calgary City Centre

  • Calgary Downtown

Community Service Award
This Club recognition is presented to the Club (or Clubs – if a joint venture) that is judged to have made the most significant contribution through community service activities. This award recognizes significant member involvement and the impact to the recipients or benefit to the community.  Recipient:

  • Calgary Wild Rose

Membership Award
This award is granted to the Club that obtains the highest NET membership increase for the past fiscal year, measured by the recruitment of new members and the retention of existing members.  Recipient:

  • Regina Wascana

Hall of Fame
This individual award recognizes Canadian Progress Club members that have made a considerable, lasting and truly valued contribution to their club, their community through club activities, and to all levels of our organization.  Recipient:

  • Roy Urbach – York Central

National Progressian of the Year
This award is earned through an extremely high level of active participation during all Club functions and through complete dedication and service to the community during the past fiscal year.  The award is bestowed on the member achieving the highest overall standing. Recipient:

  • Todd Berry – Calgary Bow River

National President’s Award
The award is bestowed on the Club achieving the highest overall standing in the required elements, including substantial participation and involvement in community service, fundraising, social, and interclub activities as well as the mentoring, training and developing of the membership.  Recipient:

  • Regina Wascana
