As we prepare for the National Convention in St. John’s, it reminds us that summer is fast coming to a close. The days are getting shorter and it is definitely cooler in the evenings here in Calgary. Members who are travelling to St. John’s this year will definitely notice an increased security presence if they travel by air. New restrictions on items allowed in carry-on luggage will be in effect and members are advised to read up and follow the guidelines so that they won’t face undue delays. Air travellers will not be allowed to carry liquids, gels or aerosols in their carry on luggage. More information is available at www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca.

Once in Newfoundland, I am sure that the boys from St. John’s are going to show everyone that the “Rock” really rocks! There are some great activities and seminars planned for convention and members should plan accordingly. There are a slate of positions that will be filled at National and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the departing Board members for their work and dedication over the period of their term. The Canadian Progress Club National Board are a dedicated group of people working hard to ensure that the organization and its members remains one of the top service clubs in the country. Their time and effort provides the drive to ensure the success today and in the future. On a more personal note, I would like to say: “ Thanks Bob for one hell of a job this year!”

See you in St. John’s.
