Eastern Region
2006 Convention
Submitted by the
Eastern Region
The
Canadian Progress Club, Pictou County hosted the second annual Eastern
Region Convention this year and what a great event they put together.
Set in historic Pictou Lodge on the edge of the Northumberland Strait,
the convention got off to a start Friday evening in the main lodge with
a reception hosted by Greater Moncton. After a few hours of drinks,
canapes and fellowship, the delegates moved to the beach for a
bonfire. The weather cooperated, giving us a beautiful evening for
a beach party.
Saturday morning came a bit too soon for some folks, but the sessions
started on time and were well-attended. Membership and retention were
the hot topics of the morning.
Five
Eastern Region Awards were presented at the luncheon: Halifax came away
with three, for Fellowship, Community Service and Club of the Year
(at right: Halifax Cornwallis ladies with national President Bob
Lockhart, after receiving the Regional Club of the Year award);
Crystal Eagan from Quidi Vidi was named Progression of the Year and
Randy Murphy from Halifax was named Outstanding New Member.

Congratulations all!
The afternoon was dedicated to the AGM followed by a team building
exercise created by Pictou County. A barbecue supper was held
followed by yet another beach party that (I hear) went on until about 4
am Sunday.
50+ members attended from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland,
with special guests, Past National President Juanita Soutar and
President Bob Lockhart in attendance.
The ladies from Pictou County deserve a hearty round of applause for
organizing a wonderful weekend for the second annual regional
convention.
