By Janey Davies Fellow Progressians: The Canadian Progress Charitable Foundation has reached a milestone in achieving our goal of raising a million dollars in support of Special Olympics Canada and Special Olympic athletes across Canada. The generosity of Clubs and individual members, across the country, has made this possible. Congratulations and thank you. In September 2006, a number of Board positions will become available. The following member’s terms are expiring:
Members staying on: for 1 year, Western Region – Brian Spilchen; and for 2 years, Eastern Region – Gary Haynes. I have written to all club presidents asking them to inform you of this information and to encourage them to help fill the vacant positions on the Charitable Foundation Board. The Foundation Governors will be visiting clubs to answer any questions and to speak to members about the Foundation. The requirements of Governors while serving on the CPC Foundation Board and the Form of Nomination and Consent are available from all CPCF Governors. Please contact a Governor for copies or if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at any time. I would personally like to speak to each of the new prospective Governors prior to an election. If you are interested in a position on the Board, please fill out the “Form of Nomination and Consent”, have it signed by an executive member of your Regional Board and forward it to me as soon as possible. Elections should take place at your spring Regional meeting. Proxies must be sent out to all clubs 30 days prior to an election, therefore the Nomination and Consent form must be submitted in time to allow 30 days for club members in your region to be informed and to vote. The Charitable Foundation Governors will be available at your Regional meetings to help with the election process. Again, if you have any questions please call your CPCF Governor or me. The next few years on the CPC Foundation will be exciting ones. Please consider a position on the Board. Yours for Progress,
