CPC Halifax Cornwallis takes a Road trip to Moncton

Submitted by Patty Baxter

On Saturday, October 15, 2005, four members of the Halifax Cornwallis Club, Patty Baxter, Pat Bowes, Margo MacFarlane and Kathy Grose, took a road trip to Moncton.

The day was bright and sunny and there was much discussion along the way. The purpose was to show our support to the Greater Moncton Women who are having challenges retaining and attracting new members. We were also joined by Eastern Region Vice President, Doug Baker, Bruce Mansour from CPC Halifax, and Michele Russell and Karen Logan from CPC Pictou County.

There were 5-6 potential new members in attendance. The function was held at Chef Scott’s Culinary Academy with the remaining three Moncton ladies in attendance. Several of the Greater Moncton men were also in attendance in support of their ladies’ club. Heather Drummond, President of CPC Greater Moncton, gave a presentation and then the floor was turned over to each club president to tell a little bit about their club. Others joined in telling these potential members their feeling of what a Progressian is, what being part of this club has done for them and why we are all proud to be part of this great service organization.

After the meeting concluded, all remained for beverages and hors d’oeuvres. The evening was spent dining and enjoying time with fellow Progressians.

Reports from Moncton indicate that 4 of these ladies have expressed interest in joining the club. Another road trip is in the planning stages as a follow up.
