Whether as a Club you choose to participate in the National Awards program or not, each and every member of Progress, on their own—plaques and certificates aside—is a success story. However, when on paper in the form of an award submission that summarizes the cumulative efforts of the members in a Club, the success stories read as overwhelmingly amazing and come September, it will be an honor to recognize the individuals and Clubs whose stories are reflected in a National Award submission for 2004-05. As I peruse this year’s fifteen Club submissions (and I would remind all submitting Clubs to check the “Awards Submission Register” on MCS to ensure ASAP that their award submission was in fact received), it is clear to see that whether in caring for each other in fellowship as Progressians or pouring our hearts and souls into the communities in which we live, we do so with the care of somebody else in mind, and yes, that is being successful. To further the success of the National Awards program, the need to establish a point system for judging and scoring submissions that reflects the recent inclusion of the “8 Minimum Standards for a Canadian Progress Club” into the component criteria has been clearly communicated to me. To that end, I am establishing a committee to create such a system, that will not only assist the members who support the awards process as “judges” but will also provide a tangible target for Clubs in documenting information into a submission. Your participation on this committee is eagerly requested and to those of you who have already come on board, thank you for finding it in your heart to contribute even further to the success of Progress. See you soon in Saskatoon. If you are interested in participating on the National Awards Scoring Committee, please contact me at dbrisbourne@accesscomm.ca.
