Two events back to back --
and Halifax-Cornwallis comes out on top

The Halifax-Cornwallis Chapter hosted our third EastLink Auction on Sunday, May 29, 2005 in support of our local Special Olympics doubling the amount raised this year.  Then, just days following, our Runaround was held on June 15, 2005 and also increased the amount raised in pledges this year!

Even though our chapter was challenged this year, because both events were held back to back, we survived and all pulled together!

The EastLink Auction was a huge success because of all our members who came up with wonderful auction items.  EastLink gave us months of free publicity for our events and worked hard to assist us with the Auction and publicity.

The Runaround was a challenge for us because of the timing of the event, but members pulled through gathering teams, prizes and pledges.

Other important news from our Chapter includes our new Website now up and running, sponsored and created by Allura Communications.

In addition, Imagine This Sold, an e-Bay company assisted us with our EastLink annual Auction to promote Sidney Crosby’s jersey and hockey stick.

We also secured Metro Radio Group for all future events.  Chronicle Herald, our local newspaper gave us a great deal on advertising.  And thanks to Pattison Outdoor we secured billboards for all our events with our first billboard on Hollis Street for our EastLink Auction.  In addition, the World Trade Centre & Convention gave us internal and external signage for the month of May for our EastLink Auction!

All of our members worked hard—developing, designing and sending emails to spread the word.  So, you can see we have been making a difference!  Let’s continue to toot our own horns!  Congratulations are in order to all the Halifax-Cornwallis Club members who sent emails, coordinated publicity, made phone calls, found prizes, found auction items, designed billboards, and found new and exciting communication vehicles!

A well deserved rest for the summer and we’ll be back and hard at it getting ready for Women of Excellence.

Thanks for your support, guys.  At right centre-bottom:  Our top Runaround fundraiser for many years goes home with a kit bag full of great prizes for her efforts.  Community support like this goes a long way to helping the club achieve its goals.  At right bottom:  Another happy participant goes home with a prize.)
