Relay for Life

Submitted by Joy Ganne

June 3 and 4, Regina Wascana participated in this year’s very successful fundraiser conducted by the Canadian Cancer Society.  Relay For Life is a celebration of cancer survivors and a tribute to the lives of loved ones who have been touched by cancer.  It is a non-competitive 12 hour relay with teams of ten taking turns walking or jogging around the track.  Some of our members are cancer survivors and were honoured with approximately 420 other survivors during the victory lap, which was the beginning of the relay.

Janey Davies, Janice Siekawitch, Carol Tremblay, Joy Ganne, Darlene Brunskill, Sheila Miller and Karen Graham assisted in the Survivors’ Tent with food and beverage service and cleaning duties.

Regina Wascana supplied plush teddy bears wearing Relay For Life t-shirts, with the CPC-Regina Wascana logo on them, to the children surviving cancer.
