| Pamper Party Proves Perfect Submitted
by Myra Skerrett About 200 Calgary women enjoyed some well-deserved “me time” at the first annual “Perfect Pamper Party” on May 26, sponsored by CPC Calgary Wild Rose. The Westin Hotel was the venue for this fun night out just for ladies, and all proceeds went to support breast health programs offered through the Grace Women’s Health Centre. Our guests snacked on specialty cheeses and sipped fine wines while they spent the evening being pampered by 28 different vendors offering unique and personal services in an intimate environment. Services offered included massage, hair and makeup consultations, facials, manicures, nutrition and health advice, life coaching, Rayid (iris interpretation), acupressure, yoga demonstrations, and more. All evening, a pianist entertained us on the grand piano. As well as the mini-services offered, we also organized raffle draws to raise additional funds for the Grace Women’s Health Centre. Prizes donated included restaurant gift certificates, hotel accommodation in Banff, gift baskets, chocolates, jewelry, and home decor products—all things that women love to enjoy! Calgary Wild Rose raised $5000 for our first ever club fundraising ticket-selling event. In all, 39 different Calgary companies and individuals contributed a prize or gift-in-kind to make this event a success. This is not including the many Wild Rose club members who gave dozens of hours of their time to plan and host the event. The feedback that we collected following the party is proof that this type of event (and the pampering that goes with it!) is something that women in Calgary want and need. And to know that every penny collected will further help women’s health initiatives in Calgary through Grace Women’s Health Centre, is reason to do it again next year!
