Quidi Vidi comes on strong

PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF THE CANADIAN PROGRESS CLUB

Joining Progress was one of the most positive decisions I have made in my life.  I not only feel a sense of pride to be associated with such a wonderful organization and the special people involved, but also feel that I have inherited a large extended family who continue to welcome me with open arms.

Last year at convention, attending as the sole member of the Quidi Vidi Club, I was determined to keep the club alive.  At that time I received such an outpouring of support and encouragement.  I want to thank all of you for that.

I am pleased to say, that as of today, we have nine members in our club, and growing. We have chosen the Alzheimer's Society of Newfoundland and Labrador as our charity for this upcoming year.  (Ed. note:  as of May 14, the number was 12 members and more expected this week.  Way to go, Crystal!)

Recently we conducted a successful clothing drive where we donated clothing to four local charities and collected Prom Dresses for the Single Parents Association.  We hope to have a fundraiser, late spring or early summer for our new charity.  Some of us are now preparing to attend our first Regional Conference in Halifax in May and my dream is to stand at convention in September and say, “Crystal Eagan, Quidi Vidi Club, fifteen members, all attending”.  I welcome Judy Maloney, Betty Shea, Cyndi Lundrigan, Bernadette Cole, Susanne Ryan, Madonna Kelly, Bea Seaward and Sylvia Harnett to the Quidi Vidi Club and look forward to the day when you all can meet and they attend their first convention.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the e-mails, kind words of support and solid advice.  I’m proud to be a Progressian.
