Halifax Progress Club Gives the Gift of Life

Submitted by Steve Murphy

As part of our mandate to provide more community service work with the Halifax metro area, the Canadian Progress Club Halifax once again stepped up to plate.

Under the direction of our club Community Service Liaison, Ken Robinson, our club was asked to donate blood at the local Canadian Blood Services office.  Although many guys in the club were a little squeamish about the idea, on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, eight club members made the trek to give blood.  Some of the guys were old pros, having given blood many times in the past.  Other guys were rookies at giving blood, and did not know what to expect.  Nevertheless, the idea of free cookies and juice was enough to coax the guys into giving their time to give blood.  When it was all said and done, all the guys survived with only small bruises to remind them of the experience.

I would like to thank all the club guys who gave up a good portion of their day to give “the gift of life”, and I would encourage all Progressions to participate in this most-needed program.
