Bikini Bottom Big Hit with Kids

"Who Lives in a Pineapple in the Moncton Parade?
SpongeBob SquarePants!"

Bubbles, smoke, and underwater rock and roll music lead SpongeBob, Patrick and the families of the Greater Moncton Progress Club down Main Street, Moncton, for the 2004 Santa Claus Parade. What a hit with the kids. They absolutely ate it up.

Under the direction of Float Chairman Tim Daley the Progress boys never had so much fun as they did this year, creating the props for this underwater extravaganza.  From glowing jelly fish to a replica of that famous Pineapple that our porous friend SpongeBob lives in, deep in Bikini Bottom.

The many lights illuminated the Pedway model representing the annual Kids in the Pedway event, where excited kids from the hospitals were brought to the warm confines of the Blue Cross Pedway to watch the parade.  These same kids contributed to the decorations by hand painting all of the fish that donned the waves on the sides of the float. Under the supervision of the Peggy Wheaton and Annette Melanson at the local hospitals the kids simply amazed us with their phenomenal creativity as they decorated fish with paint, feathers, beads and anything else colourful that they could get their hands on.

Fred Piquette did an amazing job with the sound, lights, and special effects.  He had the kids, and for that matter, the parents, literally dancing in the streets.  Kids jumping up and down, waving and yelling to our friends from the deep made the whole venture so worthwhile.

Who knows, maybe next year Squidward or even Mr. Crabbs will make an appearance.
