Regina Open Door Society's Child Minding Centres
Get New Furnishings

It didn’t take long for the women of CPC Regina Wascana to decide to act once they learned that the Regina Open Door Society needed an upgrade to the furnishings in the Society’s child minding centres.

Supplied with a ‘wish list’ of furnishings and supplies for the infant care centre, Regina Wascana members Carol Tremblay, Margot Almas, and Darlene Brunskill set to work making those wishes come true.

In all, the club spent about $2800 on assorted furnishings and bedding, and will give the Society another $200 to buy toys.  Sears Canada graciously donated six cribs, for a value of approximately $3,500.  A framed poster commemorating the donation was presented by the club to the Society and will hang in the Society’s offices.

The Regina Open Door Society is an immigrant service agency, with about 2,000 clients each year, including families with infants and preschool children.  The Society offers a variety of programs and classes for new immigrants, including English, computer literacy and job readiness.

The Society arranged a ‘thank you’ to the club on June 28, that included songs from their preschoolers (“I Love You, You Love Me” and “If You’re Happy and You Know It”) and a poster with the children’s names and hand prints.

CPC Regina Wascana has a long friendship with Regina Open Door Society.  Back when the club was in its infancy, it provided the Society with $10,000 towards a mortgage to purchase a reception house. Starting this year, Regina Wascana will help the Society organize its annual children’s Christmas party.
