| Bowling
Day in Halifax

On
Sunday November 7, 2004, the Canadian Progress Club of Halifax hosted
its annual bowling day with the residents of the Kingsmeadow Home.
The Kingsmeadow Home is a magnificent structure, containing 15 spacious
rooms that are home to 10 mentally challenged adults supervised by three
resident counselors. The home is owned by the Canadian Progress
Club of Halifax and is one of the main charitable organizations
supported by the club. Kingsmeadow offers residents all the
easy-going seclusion and privacy of a rural setting yet is within easy
walking distance of all the amenities and services of the Town of
Windsor. Over the years, Kingsmeadow has acquired an enviable
reputation for providing a warm, family environment for residents and
has become a model for similar facilities across Canada.
Every
year the Halifax Club hosts a bowling party for the Kingsmeadow
residents. This year the party was held at the Bayers Road
Bowlerama in Halifax, and it turned out to be one of the largest parties
over the last several years. A total of eighteen club members and
their families, as well as six residents of the Kingsmeadow Home
attended the party. A great deal of fun, which included bowling
and lunch, was had by all. The party is anticipated all year by
the Kingsmeadow residents and they enjoy themselves tremendously.
In addition, the party also offers club members a
great chance to meet and intermingle with some of the people who the
club helps to support. The smiles on the faces of the residents as
they enjoy the day certainly warms the hearts of club members and
provides as with “the push” to keep doing the good work that we do.
