Antlers, SpongeBob, and a view from the Pedway

By Richard Daley

Moncton Progress Club looks forward to an exciting Holiday kick-off.

Bahahahahaha! Bahahahahaha!  That familiar laugh will ring out from our big porous friend as he and his best bud Patrick the Starfish visit the kids of the Moncton and Georges Dumont Hospitals for the pre-Christmas photo shoot.  Any North American adult with a child under ten years old knows exactly who these famous cartoon characters are.  This year the men of Moncton Progress are planning to give the children more than they bargained for as they don costumes of our underwater duo.  This fun filled visitation is just the kicker to the big events planned this season by the Moncton Progress Club.

In the second year of participation in the Festival of Lights Christmas Parade, the Moncton Progress float has the makings of being a real underwater spectacle with a giant pineapple, hanging fish, glowing jellyfish, blue lights and a bubble machine.  The kids of Greater Moncton will certainly have quite a treat as SpongeBob and the gang come rolling down Moncton’s Main Street.  Traditions have a strange way of getting started and the men of progress have done this in fine style with an activity that kicks of the holiday season in Moncton, the amazing “Antler Breakfast”.  Three wise men will be visiting various businesses throughout our fine city spreading the news of this great kickoff event.

It only gets better as the focus shifts once again to the kids for the big event.  The kids from the two local hospitals, who would otherwise be in their rooms during the Christmas Parade, are brought to the Pedway over Main street for the best seats in the house to view this festive spectacle while being treated like little kings and queens.  This will certainly be a night to remember.

A busy season is upon us but the membership always comes through and gets the job done.  This year will be no exception.  It’s not hard to find time and energy when the results are so satisfying. Let’s face it. It all comes down to the kids.
