Hope
and Progress came together for the first time in Halifax for the Alcatel
Hope Volleyball Beachfest July 24th.
Modeled after the Ottawa event, this is the first
year for it in Halifax and it got off to a great start despite the
rain. The Halifax Progress Club put 8 members, the Coors Lite
girl, and her friend together to match abilities with 56 other teams in
what turned out to be more fun than sport.
The charities helped out were the Marguerite Center,
Kids Help Phone and the Parkinson Society of Canada.
Progress looks forward to helping out with the event
again next year in an expanded role and hopes to become a beneficiary
and a sponsor.
The Beachfest was also followed by an outdoor concert
in which Jim Cuddy and others played for an enthusiastic crowd.
The Halifax members had no trouble switching from their sneakers to
their dancing shoes.
