Regina Wascana:  Daffodil Tea

By Janey Davies

A social for Parkside seniors
The young and the old were brought together on March 25th at Parkside Nursing Home when CPC Regina Wascana held their 3rd annual Daffodil Tea.

The wonderful annual event is a great way for our members to say thank you to our seniors.  The club purchased $200.00 worth of daffodils from the Canadian Cancer Society’s Annual Sale and took them to Parkside for an afternoon of singing old time songs, having tea and strawberry shortcake and arranging flowers to help brighten up the rooms and halls in the home.

Some 60 plus residents enjoyed the afternoon, as did the members of Regina Wascana. There were hugs and well wishes and “see you next year” as everyone left.

This year, added to this excitement, were five young men aged 13 and 14, who came out to help porter the seniors and serve cake.  The boys, doing community service for their church, told us they had a terrific time talking with the older folks and asked, too, if they could come back next year.

The smiles on the faces of the residents of Parkside as we sang “In the Good Old Summertime” said it all.
