Pictou County

By Debbie VanSickle
Past President

The Pictou County Progress Club held our second annual Chair Affair on May 6.  The event was so well received last year, we decided to do it again!  This year we moved to a new venue and again sold out the event very quickly.  We invited our local chapter of the Special Olympics to the event and a portion of the funds raised will be donated to the organization along with other local charitable groups in our county.

Wolfgang Juchem and CJ MacMullin, as well as members from the Halifax Cornwallis Club and Halifax Club, were all with us to enjoy a great evening.  We were also thrilled to have Terry Clarke from the Calgary Bow River Club attend.  What a surprise!

The event consisted of a fashion show and silent auction.  We had Adirondack chairs hand-painted by local artists and they were all pieces of art.  Wolfgang purchased one and was hoping to take it home as carry on luggage, but in the end, we are shipping it to Calgary!

(At right:  Club President Michele Russell, National President Wolf, and Past President Debbie VanSickle celebrate President Wolf’s successful bid!)

A fashion show was also part of the evening with some great fashions from local merchants ... and our mayor showed up to model and support the event!  It was a great evening and we can’t wait until next year to do it all again.
