Saskatoon Woman Makes Club Proud

By Joyce McRoberts

Saskatoon Woman Makes Club Proud In December 2003 Orpha Campbell, past National Vice-President for the Great Plains Region, was the recipient of the 2003 CanWest Global Community Spirit Award for Saskatoon and Northern Saskatchewan.  The award is presented annually to one employee of CanWest Global who has made a significant contribution to their communities through volunteerism.  Orpha is employed with the Saskatoon Star Phoenix newspaper as a Front Counter Classified Representative.

As a charter member of the Saskatoon Meewasin club, Orpha has been active in the club since its inception in 1986.  She has served as Vice-President, President and as chair of most committees and fundraisers at one time or another.  She is currently chairperson of the sponsorship committee for our annual Spring Fashion Show and Tea.

Orpha gives her heart and soul to Progress and feels she benefits as much from her service to the community as the community does from her service.  As well as the recognition of her commitment to the Progress Club and the community of Saskatoon, Orpha received a cash award of $1,000.  A donation of $1,000 will be made in her name to the Saskatoon Crisis Nursery, a charity that the club has been closely involved with for many years.  We are so proud of you, Orpha!
