Renate Thompson Members, members, members. The Central Region is blossoming for spring with new members. We would like to welcome Richard Holloway in Brampton, Jodi Amis and Rosanna Stainton for Collingwood Area Women and Shane Stainton of Collingwood Men. Tell all your friends and bring more along . . . everyone is welcome. At the end of January the National Board met in Brampton and the President’s Ball was held. This year’s Ball was a resounding success – from the installation of new member Richard Holloway, to the silent auction with $605.00 raised for the CPCF, to the dance till you drop sounds of DJ Dave Astil of Collingwood. The members of Toronto Trillium, Toronto Downtown and Brampton billeted National Board members over the weekend. The Friday evening social at Jake’s BoatHouse was a great start with the eclectic band “Orange Man”. Why do they keep on insisting it’s RETRO 80’s music? A joint zone meeting was held in Richmond Hill at Shoeless Joe’s with the cohosting talents of Roy Urbach and John Holman, zone governors. During the evening Roy Urbach installed new members Jodi Amis, Rosanna Stainton and Shane Stainton to the Collingwood Clubs. The evening was eventful with Sargeant at Arms Alan Bone cleaning out Zone Governor Roy Urbach’s pockets. Special guest speakers were Special Olympics Canada representatives Mark Hierlihy and Jim Jordan. Upcoming months will be busy with Toronto Trilliums membership night, bi-annual clothing drive for the Red Door Shelter and Community Garage Sale and the Ladies Golf Tournament June 3. Richmond Hill will host their annual Comedy Night with featured entertainment of Yuk Yuk’s on tour. Not to be outdone, Brampton will host its annual Charity Gala with Yuk Yuk’s on tour performing. Durham Region women are taking part with a Special Olympics Swim Meet at the Pickering Rec. Centre as well as bus trip to Casino Rama and the All Night Walk for Cancer June 4.
