Halifax Cornwallis:  Remembering Angela

By Kathy Grose

The Halifax-Cornwallis Club has lost a friend and member – Angela Vecchio-Ozmon – to cancer on February 19, 2004.  She was foremost a mother to her two wonderful children, who gave her the strength to live as long as she did.  When Angela was diagnosed in 1999, she became a devoted breast health advocate and public speaker using as much of her energy to inspire others.  It was in this area that earned her a Distinguished Community Service Award from Saint Mary’s University in 2002, and a Woman of the Year Award from the Halifax YWCA in 2003.  Angela also had the wonderful opportunity to work with CBC Newsworld’s Health Matters to chronicle her journey with cancer.

Angela will be remembered by her fellow Progressians with her passion for fund-raising and her wonderful “Sex in the City” nights with much wine, laugher and Angela’s Margaritas!
