Greater Moncton Women Strut Their Colours!

By Patricia Sauriol-Dupuis

The Greater Moncton Women’s Progress Club, in conjunction with Rent-A-Chef and the City of Moncton, presented Taste of Moncton—A Culinary Adventure with proceeds benefiting the YWCA and the Mobile One Soup Kitchen.

Over 500 Monctonians came through our doors during two evenings:  February 27th and 28th, 2004.  Entry was $5 per person and the public bought one-dollar tasting coupons to sample the vendors’ culinary treats.  We had over 20 vendors selling their delicacies.

Rent-A-Chef acted as our master of ceremonies and also conducted cooking demonstrations on the main stage.

We had a roulette wheel—$1 for 2 spins—with donated prizes: t-shirt, corkscrew, gift certificate; and had a grand prize draw of six items valued from $50 to $500 (including a 17" colour TV).  Tickets on these were sold as 3 for $5.  Winners were announced at the end of the event.  Fun and good foods were enjoyed by all.
