CPCF Update
By Janey Davies
CPCF Chair

Hello my fellow Progressians,

Here it is only a few short weeks until convention.  Where has the year gone?  The CPCF Governors have been working hard over the past several months to ensure that we have fulfilled our obligations to you, our supporters.

We are presently reviewing the submissions we received from our call for service organizations to present at the 2003 National Convention in Sherbrooke.  The call went out through the Charity Village website as well as an e-mail newsletter to 165 organizations in Canada.  As promised, we will have three organizations present at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday.

The criteria for submission was established based on our "Letters Patent" which contains the following:

"...to receive and maintain a fund or funds and to apply the income and capital thereof from time to time for charitable activities in more than one (1) province of Canada, and in particular, but without limiting the generality of the foregoing, to apply the said income and capital for the establishment, maintenance and upkeep of sheltered workshops wherein physically or mentally handicapped persons may be supported, trained and rehabilitated, and for providing or assisting in providing and maintaining habitations wherein such persons may reside and be cared for".

We have also been working on reviewing our bylaws and bringing them up to date, re-writing our operational manual, reviewing our investment policy and strategies and of course organizing everything necessary for a successful convention which includes our meetings, luncheon and silent auction room.

On behalf of the Board I would like to thank you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you in Sherbrooke.

I would also like to thank you in advance for your donations to the CPCF Silent Auction.

Yours for Progress,
Janey Davies Chair
