CPC Halifax-Cornwallis' two Spring events, the Live TV Auction and Runaround, netted approximately $25,000 this year.

The auction was fun to do and the folks at Eastlink Cable TV made it easy for the club.  As a first event, the Live Auction was a resounding success, netting $11,000 from a gross of $13,000.  Past President Carolyn Bragg almost single-handedly orchestrated the event from conception to completion.  The club has taken the opportunity presented by the revenues from this event to formalize a relationship with Nova Scotia Special Olympics that will see a yearly donation going to that group from the Live Auction.  In addition to assisting NS Special O, this relationship will present additional publicity opportunities for the club, with the higher profile that Special O brings with it.  The club's commitment to its main charity, however, Phoenix Youth Programs, remains stronger than ever.

Runaround continues to be a solid event for Halifax-Cornwallis.  The event attracted more participants than ever before. A cheque for $10,000 was presented to Phoenix Youth Programs at the end of the evening.  This is over and above the club's formal annual commitment of $35,000.  In addition to financial support of PYP, the club makes an effort to connect with the young people that these programs assist, and one way is by taking them out for bowling, followed by pizza back at Phoenix House (residence).  It is always a fun event that both club members and Phoenix residents enjoy, as the photos will confirm.
