A "Chair-ity" Event
The Pictou County Progress Club held a Chair Affair and Fashion Show "A Chair-ity Event" on Thursday May 15th at Glasgow Square in New Glasgow, NS.  We held a fashion show with local merchants participating and held a silent auction on one of a kind hand painted Adirondack Chairs and other donated goods and services.  The chairs were purchased from us by local businesses, painted by artists and then auctioned.  It was a great success and we raised $10,000.  Members of Halifax Cornwallis and Halifax Progress clubs supported us and purchased items in the silent auction.  CJ MacMullin, National President gave the opening remarks.  We started small, but next year Look Out!

Dragon Boat Festival
Our next project will be held in July.  We will be helping out at the Dragon Boat Festival in support of breast cancer survivors.  Our club will sell ice cream and lemonade on July 25 & 26 to help raise funds.  It is always a great event and we look forward to assisting in any way that we can.  A great opportunity to get together.  A new members' night and social evening will be held in June.  We break for July and August but have a boat cruise planned in August just to have some fun!

AGM
CPC Pictou County held our AGM on June 10. We had two new guests attend our potluck dinner held at a member's residence.

Pictou in Summer
Our community is starting to recognize The Progress Club as we have been visible in the community for just over a year now and we will have a new members "Boat Cruise " along the East River and into the Northumberland Strait in late August to introduce potential members to our organization.  Pictou County is a busy place in the summer months as we have many beaches and festivals to attract visitors.  It keeps all of our members very busy.  That's it for now, Have a great summer!

(Debbie is too modest in her reporting.  She neglected to tell you that the event was sold out within a week!  The event was top-drawer, with gourmet appetizers and reasonably priced wine and beer.  Good move, Debbiegets everyone in the mood to spend!  The event was well attended by an interesting mix of both men and women who seemed to enjoy themselves immensely.  A fabulous launch to what is sure to grow into a real anchor event.
