Stu Lindop:  CPC Sherwood Park's True Shining Knight

On February 17, 2003, Stu Lindop, a member of CPC Sherwood Park, celebrated his 84th birthday.  Stu was introduced to Progress in 1969 and his sponsor was Leo Taillier of the Edmonton Downtown club.  Thus Stu has been a member of Progress for 34 years.  His attendance and participation in our club's activities has always been exemplary.

He is the driving force behind an essay writing contest that uses the Progress motto "It's Great to be Canadian" as its topic.  He discussed the essay contest with CJ MacMullin on the National President's recent visit to Sherwood Park.  Stu would like to see the essay contest become a national activity that can help to raise the profile of Progress clubs in every province where clubs are chartered.

In the Sherwood Park community, Stu, a ten-year survivor of the same cancer that Terry Fox succumbed to, is the longest running member and staunch supporter of the Annual Terry Fox Run.

Recently he was the recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal.  The medal is a tangible and lasting way of paying tribute to persons whose achievements have benefited their fellow citizens, their community and their country.  As an active Progressian, Stu has accomplished all of these things and more.

We in Sherwood Park are justly proud to claim him as our true shining knight.
