Halifax Parties at
the Halifax
By Doug Baker
CPC Halifax held its annual Christmas Party at
the historic Halifax Club on December 13, 2002. The Halifax Club
dates back to 1862 and was an excellent setting for such a gala affair
with all the rooms decked out for the season.
The large gathering of fifty-two Progressians and
their significant others started the evening in the Pryor Room for
cocktails. A hearty turkey dinner followed.
An excellent pianist accompanied dinner, which
prompted several vocally challenged Progressians to step forward to the
dais to sing Christmas songs. All, despite the lack of real
singing voices, had great fun; this was led by our incomparable MC
"Ken Robinson".
The
induction of four new members followed dessert. The inductions
were presided over by myself, Dave O'Connor (membership chair), Judy
Lavers (Zone Governor) and CJ MacMullin (National President). The
four new members are Ab Asaff, Chris Hilleman, Kirby Putnam and Dave
Quinton. After a solemn ceremony the new members were given a
thunderous welcome and handshakes all round. Dinner was adjourned
to the Pryor Room for cocktails and cigars.
Merry Christmas and a very prosperous New Year to all
Progressians!
