Halifax and Halifax-Cornwallis

Busy Times in the Port City
By Sharon Ward

Women of Excellence
Halifax was hopping for the Halifax-Cornwallis club this fall with another successful Women of Excellence event in November.  After a slow response to ticket sales, the pace picked up and we hit our target.  This year the club took a risk with the usual pattern and decided not to have a well-known "name" as a guest speaker.  Instead, a graduate of Phoenix Youth Programs spoke and told her story to the 500+ people who filled the Port Royal Room at the World Trade and Convention Centre.  The response from the audience was heart-warming.  It was a good move and a direction that the club will continue to pursue.

Christmas Celebrations
Christmas was a time for the individual clubs to get together and share an evening of fellowship and merriment.  Halifax-Cornwallis enjoyed a delicious Christmas meal at Pineau's Café.  (For more, see Halifax President Doug Baker's report on his club's Christmas party.)
