Update
for June

Welcome
Staples, our most recent major corporate sponsor for Convention
2002!
112
Days and Counting…
Yes,
Convention 2002 is only 16 weeks away! If you haven't yet
registered, please do so by the June 30th deadline in order to
avoid having to pay the late registration fee. Registration forms
are available at www.cpcbowriver.com
or by contacting Convention Registrar, Darrell Stelmack, at (403)
294-4931.
Hotel
rooms are going quickly! Don't delay—book your
room at the Canmore Radisson Hotel by calling 1-800-333-3333 or emailing
rhi_cnmr@radisson.com. Be
sure to ask for the Progress Convention rate. This special
discount rate of $130/night will be in effect from three days before
Convention until three days after. Please note that rooms must
be booked prior to August 23rd in order to qualify for the
Convention rate. After August 23rd, the rate increases to
$199/night.
We are in
the process of arranging a special car rental package for our
out-of-town guests. Details will be broadcast at a later date.
Spousal
Program Updates…
There has
been some confusion about what is included in the Spousal Program
registration fee of $275.00. The fee includes: transportation
to and from Spousal Program events*; regular
Convention breakfasts, lunches and dinners; and participation in
all Convention evening events.
*Please
note: Service fees, admission prices, etc. for the various
activities that have been planned specifically for the spousal package
(such as trips to the spas, hot springs, museums or gondola) are at
extra cost to the participant. Only the transportation to these
activities is included in the registration fee.
If you have
any comments, suggestions, ideas or questions please contact your
Spousal Events Co-ordinator, Barb Whitehead, at barb.whitehead@shaw.ca.

-
The bus
is at our disposal, so plan your day in Banff!
-
The
Banff Springs Hotel Willowstream Spa, started in May 2002, is a
wonderful facility that includes three waterfall mineral whirlpools,
an indoor mineral spa pool, an outdoor mineral whirlpool and
terrace, steam rooms, saunas and inhalation rooms. The
services and prices are different from its predecessor, The Solace
Spa, so check out their website at www.fairmont.com
(go to Hotels & Resorts, to Canada, to Alberta, to Banff
Springs, to Guest Services, to Spa). There is no daily
access fee anymore so you must book a treatment to get in.
The prices are for a minimum one-hour treatment and vary from a
$69.00 manicure to $529.00 full day (excluding 18% gratuity and 7%
GST). If you want to visit the Spa you must make your own
reservation at 1-800-404-1772 (or through the Spa website) and
plan to arrive around 10:00 a.m. You may go in and out of the
spa all day once you are in a plan.
-
There
is also a spa at the Upper Hot Springs—the Pleiades
Massage Therapy and Spa. Fees range from $45.00 - $200.00 and
services are limited to 7 guests at a time. Their website is
at www.parkscanada.gc.ca/hotsprings/
or phone (403) 760-2500.
-
Ride
the gondola up Sulphur Mountain. There are two restaurants at
the top, as well as some hiking trails. The gondola costs
$19.95 and the website is www.banffgondola.com.
-
You may
choose to visit the town of Banff and check out the museums, stores
and restaurants, or there are local sightseeing tours based in
Banff. Check out http://www.cpcbowriver.com/Convention_2002/links.htm
to learn more.
-
You
should plan your day to get dropped off at your destination around
10:00-10:30 a.m. and be picked up from 3:30-4:00 p.m.
