| A Busy Year for Bow River As my year as President of Calgary Bow River comes to an end, it is natural to reflect on the club's accomplishments during this time. The members of Calgary Bow River kept themselves as busy as ever with very successful results. I found out quickly that my primary role was to just try and keep up with the guys and stay out of their way. On a financial basis, the Club organized six primary fundraisers and achieved record net profits for all major fundraising events. Kudos to all event chairmen: Buckn' Breakfast/Highwood Buckn' Breakfast (Darrell Stelmack), Gala Auction (Todd Berry/Randy Beaudoin), Stampeders Quarterback Lunch (John Zutter), Casino (Bryan Floer) and the Flames Alumni Dinner (John Stoodley) and of course, their committee members and volunteers. As a result of the successful fundraising events, the Club exceeded its commitment of $75,000 to Big Sisters & Big Brothers (BSBB), maintained the highest level of contributions to CPCF and committed an additional $110,000 to the new BSBB Building Fund. The club also decided to focus more on community service activities this year. Members dedicated over 800 hours in 18 different community service activities this past year. In addition, the Club initiated a BSBB alumni scholarship fund at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Special thanks to Ed Cooke, our Community Service director, and Todd Berry for organizing many of the events and to all members for their valuable time. Led by Terry Clarke, the Convention Committee has been very focused on organizing the National Convention, which will be held in Canmore September 25-29. The group has planned great seminars, unique special events, and the occasional social event. We can't wait to host all Progressians from across the country! We also celebrated our 25th anniversary in Progress this year. Lastly, the Boys managed to find some time to keep a full social calendar with several club events and an active inter-club schedule. I would like to thank the Board of Directors, the membership and volunteers for their support over the past year. I feel very fortunate to be associated with such a dedicated group of guys. Looking back over all the club activities this past year, no wonder the year went by so fast. See you all in Canmore! Yours for Progress,
