From the President...

A Message from National President Al Gordon

Greetings All:

The past few months saw your National Board, and particularly your National Executive, very busy preparing for our special meeting and vote on the restructure of the National Board.

I am pleased to announce the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of the motion to replace our Zone Governors with four nationally elected directors.

At the special meeting to announce the results of this vote, only a handful of people attended.  I think this reflects very favorably on the presentations made by your National Board in explaining the motion to our clubs.  It appears all involved understood the process and the changes being proposed.  Thank you to everyone involved in allowing this change to be accepted.

Our next step is to define the new directors' roles.  We will be doing this by mid June and will then be able to accept nominations for these positions.  I encourage everyone who is interested in helping at a National level to put his or her name forward.  You will be welcomed by the executive and you will have a very "first hand, direct" involvement in the newly structured Board.  It will be a rewarding and exciting experience.

Again, thanks to everyone who worked so many hours on the precise wording of the motion and to all members for your patience and understanding in allowing this process to work flawlessly.

Have a great summer (I think that was last Tuesday in Calgary) and I look forward to seeing you at our National Convention in September.
