Moncton:  Beaver Business
By Jim Grant

December was a busy month for us here in Moncton. Our dauntless President "Gordie" led the way with another partnership venture ("Half-ton-o'-toys") with Moncton Chrysler Dodge Superstore. The Saturday before Christmas, a truck full of toys was delivered to Moncton Head Start's "Christmas Toy Land". Head Start is an amazing organization that supports families to help them rise above a life of mediocrity on social assistance and to be successful, contributing constituents.

The club also partnered with a single parent mom and her little boy to make their Christmas truly magic. On top of overwhelming support from local sponsors for baby clothes, food, toys and diapers, the club voted to look after her childcare needs for the next year, with the stipulation that she maintains her current high grades in the course of her studies.

Working with the local food drive, we helped coordinate, pack, load and deliver food boxes for 1500 plus families before Christmas. Special thanks to Louis Poirier, Gord Robinson, Terry Young, Tim and Greg Daley, Jim Grant and son Ryan (9 years), Mike LeBlanc and Scott Tattrie.

Our Chapter is very pleased to welcome seven new members - Steve Casey, Edgar Allain, Louis Poirier, Michael LeBlanc, David MacKey, Jamie McGloin and Scott Tattrie to our club and to Progress Canada. This brings our club total to twenty-two members. Finally, coming up in the month of February is our curling bonspiel, to be held at the Beaver Curling Club.
