A Message from National President Al Gordon:
November saw me returning to Nova Scotia for the Women of Excellence Dinner hosted by Halifax Cornwallis and then to Charter our newest Canadian Progress Club, Pictou County. Pictou County is chartering on a great foundation of diverse and enthusiastic members and has the very strong support of their chartering club, Halifax Cornwallis. Thank you Cornwallis for starting my year as National President off in such an exciting way. The Women of Excellence Dinner honors the ladies who are the leaders of their community. Let’s take a moment to think about the leaders we are. Not just our VPs, Zone Governors and Club Presidents. Think for a moment that each of us is a leader in our own right. Each of us already are members of a service club who provides a significant contribution to our communities, as this we have taken a leadership role to get involved, a step most people do not do. Take pride in knowing this. Take pride in it and find energy from it to go back to our friends and associates and invite them to join us. As I mentioned in my speech at the Convention, as a result of the events of September 11, we find more people wanting to get involved in helping their community and feeling that they are contributing to the betterment of the whole. We, being the leaders in the service club community, it is our responsibility to identify and welcome these people into the Canadian Progress Club. We cannot wait for them to source us out; we must be proactive and actively pursue them. I challenge each of us to bring one new guest out to our respective clubs by Christmas. By doing this we will continue to show our leadership in our local communities. As we enter the Christmas season, lets be sure to help those less fortunate around us as we enjoy our festivities. Have
a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Yours for Progress
