What's Happening

Christmas in the Pedway:

The Santa Claus Parade was extra special this year for a group of children and their families in Moncton.  CPC Moncton designed an event for children with compromised health to view the parade in an enclosed pedway complete with decorations, donated food and gifts.  The event was sponsored by local businesses and promoted through the media. To date, $7200 has been raised from this event, which will be used to provide Sony Play Stations and TVs for the hospitals.

Kudos to CPC Moncton:

Dear Jim:

I’m still on a high over Saturday evening’s Santa Claus Parade. When your group takes on a challenge you sure do things up right.  The Moncton Progress Club really pulled out all the stops when making arrangements for this very rewarding Special Event.

I was very impressed by the thought, organizational talent and personal effort each of you and your club members committed to this project.

I spent a good deal of my morning with Mitchel today and he is still talking about his Grinch balloon and the marvelous time he and his sister had at Christmas in the Pedway.  Mitchel’s words were these; and I quote: “it was the best day of my life.”

If these words are not enough, let me, on behalf of his parents and the numerous other children and families who were fortunate enough to be included in this extra-ordinary evening, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Christmas 2001 will hold a special place in the memories of these children and their families.  I commend the Moncton Progress Club and its many dedicated volunteers for making it all happen.

Merry Christmas,

Peggy Wheaton
[Director of Child Life Services, Pediatrics, SEHCC]
