A Letter from the CPCF Chair: Wasn’t that a party!! True enough, it was a huge success. Not only did Halifax come through by having a terrific convention, the members of Progress came through by once again showing their support of the Canadian Progress Charitable Foundation and Canadian Special Olympics to the tune of $10,308.00. WOW! This will help get just that much closer to our “Million Dollar Goal”. As was mentioned at the AGM, the commitment to Canadian Special Olympics and the goal you set of a million dollars is close to being a reality. Also mentioned was the fact that you, the members of the Canadian Progress Club, will have the opportunity to decide where we go after this goal has been reached. I urge you to discuss this with all your club members and come back to convention in Canmore in September 2002 with some suggestions. Can we continue to support Canadian Special Olympics – you bet! Should we move on to another National Charity – the answer to that is yes! Both are possibilities. You, the members, will make that decision. The Board of CPCF looks forward to your input. At this time I would like to thank the members of the Board for another outstanding year. I look forward to working with each and every one of you over the next year. A special thank you to Rosalie for her continuing support of the Foundation and her willingness to continue as our liaison with Canadian Special Olympics. The CPCF component of convention was a huge success thanks to the hard work and dedication of John Nunn, Gary Haynes, Greg Porter, Bruce French, Margaret French, Bruce Mansour, and Tony Maisano. You did a spectacular job organizing the auction and manning it all weekend long, keeping everyone in the loop at the seminar and keeping the meetings interesting and fun. Thanks. Molly, as always, you keep us in line and informed. What would we do without you? Thanks for being there. A very warm welcome to our newest Governors, Joan Gooder and Bob Lockhart and a special welcome to Brian Spilchen, our new treasurer. You are a wonderful enthusiastic addition to the Board and I look forward to working with you in the upcoming year. Mary Kutarna – what is there to say about a lady that has dedicated herself for so many years to the good of Progress? Thank you for all you has done for us and please know that you will be missed, a lot. Just think, now you get to golf and party. Our best to you. My sincerest thanks to the Board of the Canadian Progress Charitable Foundation for their trust and faith in me. I will try my best to live up to your expectations as Chair. Last but not least, thanks to members of the Canadian Progress Clubs across Canada. You make this all possible. You are putting smiles on the faces of numerous Special Olympic athletes all across Canada. You are the success stories making success stories happen. If we could bottle just the enthusiasm and joy that Jackie Barrett exudes, because of you, we would make the world smile. Thank you and keep up the good work. Yours for Progress, Janey
