A Note of Thanks from Progressian of the Year, Janey Davies:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I’m not sure if I even said that on Saturday, October 13 at National Convention.  I really can only remember saying  “Oh my God”.  Since I did lose my voice on the Friday of Convention (imagine not being able to talk at convention), I wanted to tell you how I feel.

How does one say thank you to a group of people, many that I have just met and many that I have grown to love over the last 9 years in Progress, after receiving the highest honor bestowed on a Progressian?  Believe me, it’s impossible.  But I would like to try.

First of all, to those who had the task of choosing one person from a list of people who I believe are far more deserving than I, thank you.  I feel so honored to be among that list.

To my fellow club members, who gave me the opportunity to work among them, support during my 3 years as President, and encouragement to move on to the CP Charitable Foundation, my love to you.  Thank you for allowing me to do my heart’s work.

To the Saskatoon Meewasin ladies, who I have the highest respect and regard for and who have taken me into their fold.  I am proud to call you my sisters.

To my mentors on the Foundation and those whose shoes will be impossible to fill, Rosalie Courage, Janet Merrick, Al Gordon and all of the other Board members who make sitting on the Foundation a pleasure, thank you.

To Molly, with her ever-ready answers and her willingness to do whatever it takes, thanks.  You are the best.

To the friends I have made all across Canada, from Penny in Vancouver to Jed and his mates in Newfoundland and all those in between, you are the best and have shown me what a true Progressian is.

And last but certainly not least, to all the Past National Presidents that I have had the pleasure of knowing, who each in their own way have left a lasting impression on me.   You are the eternal torch that burns brightly for Progress.
