The education program began on Thursday morning when keynote speaker Ruben Nelson (Alliance for Capitalizing on Change and Square One Management) gave an outstanding address on "Twenty-first Century Trends: Impacts on Volunteerism". In the afternoon, Sandy Penrose of the Banff Centre spoke about "Motivation in a Volunteer Setting". Two specialized seminars featured Sherry Ferronato (Ex Animo Consulting) who presented "Accountability in the Volunteer Sector" and National Education Chair Brenda Mahoney who presented "Marketing Strategies". Both Sherry Ferronato and Brenda Mahoney had return engagements Friday morning. Also on Friday, Felicity Edwards of the CSE Group held an open session entitled "Difficult People or Difficult Situations?" All seminars were well-attended and very well received.
